Hi Everyone!

We REALLY need your help to SAVE and KEEP LIHL 132 (the Advanced Class for Filipino) from being canceled next quarter. To update you all on the situation, due to low enrollment for the class the department and administration decided to initially cancel the course. If you look on WebReg, it says that LIHL 132 is not available to add anymore. The unfortunate news caught many off guard as the cancellation came with no prior notice to Professor Alicio. HOWEVER, THE FIGHT IS NOT OVER! After speaking to officials within the department we were granted UNTIL FRIDAY to raise the enrollment for LIHL 132! We need AT LEAST 10 or more to enroll by FRIDAY!! So please, if you are interested in joining the course PLEASE ADD LIHL 132 to your classes for next quarter.

As mentioned earlier in the message, the course is not available to be added on WebReg AT THE MOMENT…BUT I’ve just spoken to Professor Alicio and the department is working on re-opening the course by later TODAY. So once the course is reopened, I will let you all know so you may add the class for next quarter on WebReg. However, if more problems arise when you try and add the course please email the Professor at alicio@ling.ucsd.edu so he may assist you.

In addition, to those who were already registered into the class before the initial cancelation, please RE-ADD LIHL 132 once it opens back up on WebReg. Also, the Professor has notified me saying that many of you are interested in taking the course, but can not add it till January. Due to the current situation, we really would like you to find a way to add LIHL 132 by Friday. If we do not act now, the cancelation of LIHL 132 may snowball into the cancelation of other Filipino classes in the future. So please help us SAVE AND KEEP LIHL 132 at UCSD.
