“On March 4th, workers and students in all sectors of public education will participate in actions to raise awareness about the immediate and long-term effects of state defunding of education, and the trend toward privatization at the UC.
This historic statewide day of action brings together stakeholders who’ve traditionally competed for education dollars and unites us in an effort to once again make education spending a priority for the State of California.
The UC San Diego Coalition for Educational Justice is an organization comprised of students, workers, staff members, and faculty who have joined in a struggle to transform the University of California into a truly democratic and transparent institution accessible to ALL Californians.
As concerned parties, we call on all constituencies at UCSD to stand in solidarity with students and workers participating the protest activities state-, nation- and world-wide on March 4th.a
On March 4th, we call on all to:
TEACH OUT!
We call on all UCSD faculty and teaching assistants to take their classes outside; to take over the public spaces on campus; to model what access and public education. Teach out to speak out against the privatization of UCSD.
WALK OUT!
We call on all students and workers to walk out; to suspend “business as usual” and march in the support of:
· Affordability and accessibility to our public university
