Kaibigang Pilipin@ has come a long way in the past 25 years. Here are highlights of some of our accomplishments since our founding on April 6th, 1987. - 1987: Kaibigang Pilipino (now known as Kaibigang Pilipin@) is registered as a student organization
- 1992: First High School Conference, Pilipino Cultural Night (now known as Pilipin@ Cultural Celebration), and Pilipino Graduation, are held
- 1993: Kaibigang Pilipino joins the Student Affirmative Action Committee
- 1995: Kaibigang Pilipino gets involved in the creation of UCSD's Cross-Cultural Center, becoming an affiliated organization
- 1998: The Kuya/Ate/Ading component is conceived and the first Pilipino History and Arts Celebration (now known as Magkasama) is held
- 1999: First Pilipino Awareness Day (now known as Pilipin@ Awareness Week) is held
- 2002: Filipino Collegiate Collaborative is established between the Pilipin@-American student organizations of UCSD, SDSU, USD, CSUSM, Miramar, and Southwestern in an effort to save Tagalog classes from being cut
- 2005: Kaibigang Pilipino's Student Teaching Academic Retention (KP STAR) is institutionalized as the organization's retention project after the creation of the Peer Counseling component
- 2006: The first KP STAR Retreat is held
- 2007: Kaibigang Pilipino's Community Outreach to Realize Empowerment (KP CORE) is institutionalized as the organization's outreach project after the launch of the Student Promoted Access Center for Education and Service (SPACES) from the passing of the campus-wide "Promoting Understanding and Learning through Service and Education (PULSE) Referendum. KP also joins Kamalayan Kollective and KaBayanihan (and now Pilipino Undergraduate Society for Health) in establishing Kapwa Tao. The 20th Anniversary Ourstory Gala is held
- 2008: First KP Star KAAmping is held
- 2010: A malicious fraternity party, the Compton Cookout, targets underprivileged, underrepresented, and underserved communities in UCSD, eliciting campus-wide protests and campus diversity policy reform. KP CORE gains access to work with Samuel F.B. Morse High School students and administration. The first Kapwa Tao Kumustahan Oryenstasyon is held.
- 2011: The first Filipino Collegiate Collaborative College to Career Conference is held
- 2012: Kaibigang Pilipino changes its name to Kaibigang Pilipin@ to recognize Pinays in the space. The 25th Anniversary Ourstory Gala is held
